ISRG – Empowering Trans Voices in Delhi-NCR

Amplifying leadership, scalability, and sustainability for 600 trans and gender-diverse youth

February 2023 marked the launch of ISRG, Basera’s flagship grant from Women’s Fund Asia to uplift 600 transgender and gender-diverse individuals across Delhi-NCR. From day one, we anchored our model on four pillars: community engagement, leadership training, systems strengthening, and crisis response. Our first initiative linked 120 youth to corporate internships, while a series of Diversity & Inclusion workshops opened pathways in HR departments of leading firms.

To bolster resilience, Basera’s Crisis Response Cell now offers 24/7 psychosocial support and legal aid. We’ve trained 80 youth in leadership, advocacy, and digital storytelling—skills that power Self Help Groups and youth advisory councils. These councils co-design policy dialogues with health officials, ensuring transgender voices shape service delivery.

ISRG’s sustainability focus shines through our corporate partnerships. We’re piloting a skills-voucher system that lets participants choose from beautician courses to bookkeeping classes, and we’re tracking their placement rates rigorously. Early data shows 65 percent job retention after six months—proof that when training aligns with market demand, empowerment endures.

Impact Snapshot

  • 600 trans youth enrolled
  • 120 corporate placements secured
  • 15 capacity-building workshops delivered

With ISRG, Basera isn’t just funding a project—it’s building a scalable, sustainable ecosystem where transgender youth lead their own futures.
