About Us
About Basera Samajik Sansthan
Basera means a home. For the people we work with, it has often been the first door that opened.Basera Samajik Sansthan is a transgender-led, community-based organisation founded in Noida in 2006 – by the community, for the community. For twenty years we have stood where people are most often turned away: at clinics, police stations, offices and family doors.Today we run programmes across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR in HIV prevention and care, shelter, social protection, legal rights and livelihoods. We are registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Reg. No. 914).
Our Approach
What We Do
Our work falls into four areas.
Health &
Prevention
HIV and syphilis testing, counselling and help to start and stay on treatment – led by people from the community.
Empowerment & Leadership
Legal aid sessions, a Community Advisory Board, and leadership training so community members can speak up and lead.
Economic & Social Support
Garima Greh shelter, skill training, job support and help with ID cards and government schemes.
Advocacy & Systems Strengthening
Sensitisation of police, courts, hospitals and colleges so that public systems treat our community with respect.

Back on treatment
Care & Support Centre
A counsellor link worker never stopped following up with a client who had left HIV treatment. Two years later, the client is back on therapy.
A kitchen of her own
SAMARTH Livelihood Support
With basic cooking tools from SAMARTH, a participant started a home-based cloud kitchen and now earns about ₹300–400 a day.
Back to the classroom
PAHAL Skill Development
Alongside beauty and stitching training under PAHAL, eight young people received scholarships in 2025–26 so they could keep studying while learning a trade.
Courts that listen
Legal Rights Programme
Around 150 lawyers and court staff at Karkardooma Court Complex learned about transgender rights and the TG-card process. The Bar Association asked us to come back.
A first savings account
Financial Literacy Workshop
After a financial literacy session with Axis Bank, one participant opened their first savings account and began planning monthly expenses.
