About Basera Samajik Sansthan

Basera Samajik Sansthan is a transgender-led, community-based organization founded in 2006 and registered under the Society Act 1860 with registration No (No. 914-2006-2007). Born from lived experience and collective resilience, Basera advances dignity, equity, and empowerment for LGBTQIA+ communities and people living with HIV. We center those most affected by marginalization—transgender and hijra persons, sex workers and MSM, PLHIV, and vulnerable youth—ensuring they lead every step toward lasting change. Our Approach

We follow a clear and rights-based method to offer equal support in health, legal aid, social care, and leadership growth. Our work aims to meet urgent needs, build strong resilience, raise community voices, and remove barriers that create stigma, limit access, and reduce dignity for individuals.

We join with civil groups, national allies, and global partners to improve systems, guide policy, and promote fair progress. Our aim is to ensure LGBTQIA+ people and PLHIV are seen as strong leaders who shape ideas, drive action, and support inclusive development rather than remain passive beneficiaries.

At Basera, we imagine a fair world where every person can live with respect, claim their rights, and grow with confidence. We hope for a society that values diversity, supports equality, and helps every individual feel safe, accepted, empowered, and able to build a strong and healthy life.
