Summary

PRISM–UP stands for Stabilization and Livelihood Pathways Model. It started from a simple question: when someone leaves our shelter, what will they live on?

Many residents of Garima Greh arrive with no income and very few chances of getting a job. PRISM–UP turns their time at the shelter into a structured path towards earning a living, step by step:

A safe place to stay at Garima Greh, with meals and counselling
Skill training in beauty parlour work, stitching and cooking, with batches taught by trainers who are themselves from the community
Entrepreneurship training on how to plan and run a small business
Mentoring in small groups, with monthly follow-up on how much each person is earning
Start-up support for those with a sound business plan

We also connect participants with banks and government schemes such as PMEGP and MUDRA, so that their work can grow after the project ends.

In September 2026, 25 participants completed a 15-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme with NIESBUD. They spent six of those days visiting real businesses, including a bakery, a plant nursery, market stalls and a nail art studio, and all 25 received their certificates on 1 October 2026. Mentoring is now under way.
