Summary
Some of the people we meet have no home to go back to. They have been pushed out by family, evicted, or forced to move again and again, and living on the street makes them easy targets for violence, harassment and abuse.
Safe and Seen is a short, focused project that responds to this. It is led by the community, and it works in two ways:
Safe: quick help when someone faces danger, from finding a safe place to stay to getting medical care, legal support or help with the police
Seen: carefully recording what homeless and displaced transgender persons go through, with their consent, so that their needs are no longer invisible to the people who make decisions
We also run training and peer support circles, where people can share what they are facing, learn about their rights and support each other.
Everything people share with us is kept confidential, and no one’s name or story is used without their permission.
