Summary
SAMARTH means “capable”. It was a short project with one clear aim: to help transgender persons build skills, get ready for jobs and, where they wanted, start something of their own.
In just over three months, the project worked in five ways:
Skill training in beauty parlour work, basic computers and stitching, with tool kits and certificates
Job readiness: help with resumes, mock interviews and visits to real workplaces
Leadership workshops on communication, planning and understanding policies
Welfare camps to help community members apply for documents and government schemes
Start-up support: the tools each person needed for the work they had chosen
What SAMARTH did (December 2025 – March 2026)
50 people trained: 20 in beauty parlour work, 20 in basic computers and 10 in stitching
25 people prepared for jobs through resumes, mock interviews and corporate exposure
60 people took part in 8 leadership sessions
Around 200 to 250 community members reached through welfare camps
6 people given start-up tools: a stitching machine, a makeup kit, a deep freezer for a tea stall, and kitchen equipment for tiffin services, a food stall and a home kitchen growing.
