Summary

SAMARTHYA means strength, the ability to stand on your own. The project works with transgender persons in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, including transwomen, transmen and non-binary people, so that they can get healthcare, support and their rights without being turned away.

It continues the work we began under SAHAS, so the people already connected with us stay connected, and new members keep joining. Our outreach team helps them with:

Health: HIV testing and treatment, and screening for TB, STIs, blood pressure and diabetes
Gender-affirming care: counselling and referrals to doctors and hospitals that will treat them with respect
Mental health: someone to talk to, and referrals when more help is needed
Documents and schemes: Aadhaar, TG cards, bank accounts, Ayushman Bharat and other government schemes
Crisis support: help with violence, police issues, medical emergencies or losing a place to stay

Our Drop-In Centre is a safe place to meet, rest and talk, and we hold regular Community Sabhas where members share what they need and help shape the work.

To know more about SAMARTHYA or how to join, please contact our office at 0120-4965670 or write to info@baserasamajiksansthan.org. Our crisis team aims to respond within 48 hours.
