Our Targeted Intervention works to prevent HIV among people who face the highest risk and the most stigma: female sex workers, men who have sex with men, transgender persons and people working in spas. It runs in Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar, with support from the Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society.

Most of the work happens in the field. Our outreach workers, many of them from these same communities, meet people where they are. They talk about safer sex, hand out condoms, help people get tested for HIV and syphilis, and stay with them until they reach the right clinic or ART centre. Every Friday, our Drop-In Centre at the project office is open as a safe place to meet, talk and get information.

We also hold health camps in villages and slum areas, usually around Holi and Diwali, run awareness sessions for students in government schools, and meet regularly with police, ICTC counsellors and ART centres so that people are treated with respect when they walk in.

In 2025–26, the project carried out 3,503 HIV tests and 3,671 syphilis tests, and treated 131 of the 138 people diagnosed with an STI. All 17 people newly diagnosed with HIV were started on treatment.

Next, we want to reach people who are harder to find, those who move often or stay hidden, through hotspot mapping and closer work with the community.
