Sshakti is our Care and Support Centre for people living with HIV in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar. It is run by people who understand HIV from the inside, and the idea is simple: no one should have to manage treatment alone.

Our Community Liaisons for Health (CLHs) stay in touch with each person and help them to:

Start HIV treatment and keep taking it
Get viral load and other tests done on time
Come back to care if they have stopped going to the ART centre
Get pregnant women and their babies tested and cared for at every stage
Get TB treatment and support when needed
Get family members and partners tested
Apply for ration cards, pensions and other government schemes

When someone stops coming for treatment, we don’t close the file. We keep calling and visiting. In one case, a client came back to treatment after two years away. Everything a person shares with us stays confidential.

What we did in 2025–26

1,341 people started HIV treatment
807 people who had stopped treatment were brought back to care
1,704 people got their overdue viral load test
153 pregnant women living with HIV were supported, every one of them
98 HIV-exposed babies were tested on time at every stage
98 people with both HIV and TB were supported, and 67 are on ongoing treatment
20 children living with HIV received nutrition and school kits

The hardest part is reaching people who have moved, changed their phone number or are afraid of being seen. That is where we are putting more effort this year.
